MANAJEMEN STRATEGIK PENINGKATAN MUTU LEMBAGA PENDIDIKAN MUHAMMADIYAH DI KABUPATEN GI.IIIUNGKIDUL (Studi Kasus di SMP Al-Mujahidin dan SMP Muhammadiyah Semin)
Abstract
The objective of this research is to study the implementation of the
strategic management of the quality improvement of Muhammadiyah educational
institutions in SMP Al-Mujahidin and SMP Muhammadiyah Semin Gunungkidul
Regency and to find out the formulation of alternative strategic management of
Muhammadiyah educational institutions in improving school quality in
Gunungkidul Regency.
The research type was qualitative case study. The data were directly
collected from the field from the observation results, interview, and
documentation on two Muhammadiyah educational institutions namely SMP Al-
Mujahidin and SMP Muhammadiyah Semin. The data analysis technique used
Miles and Huberman with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and
conclusion drawing.
The research results show that the implementation of the strategic
management conducted by SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Mujahidin and SMP
Muhammadiyah Semin is by involving all stakeholders. The schools formulate the
school's vision and mission first by considering both internal and external factors
of the school environment. It is continued by formulating the goals and the target
of school qualrty followed by determining strategies that will be taken by the
school for realizing all targets of the agreed quality. The implementation of the
strategy taken by SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Mujahidin and SMP Muhammadiyah
Semin in improving the school quality is by describing and implementing all
strategies formulated in the form of programmed and measurable activities. The
implementation technique is given to each activity coordinator having continuous
coordination with the headmaster. Meanwhile, the strategy evaluation applied by
SMP Muhammadiyah Al-Mujahidin and SMP Muhammadiyah Semin is through
both formal and informal meetings. Formal meeting is held regularly with vice
headmaster, particular division, or even with all school members. Then, informal
meeting is usually held during break time or gathering time to discuss necessary
issues. As an addition, intensive communication and regular control by activity
coordinator are also taken.
