OPTIMISME, DUKUNGAN SOSIAL, DAN EFIKASI DIRI AKADEMIK DENGAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS BAHASA INGGRIS MELALUI PERSEPSI NILAI BUDAYA SIRI’
Abstract
This study aims to investigates the relations of optimism, social support, and academic self-efficacy towards mastery of English paragraph writing skills that mediated by the perception of siri’ cultural values. The respondent of the study is state islamic senior high school students in Makassar. The number of population are 2556 students with 346 sampling. Instrument that used in this study are writing task, optimism scale, social support scale, academic self-efficacy, and value perception scale of siri’ culture.
The data analysed by using structural equation model. The result of the study shows that tested structural model fulfilled the fit standard of the model based on RMSEA, CFI, GFI, and CMINDF mark.
The result of direct effect test produce optimism affected significantly towards English paragraph writing skills ; social support did not affect towards English paragraph writing skills; academic self-efficacy did not affect towards English paragraph writing skills; however, the value perception of siri’ culture affected significantly towards English paragraph writing skills. Meanwhile the result of indirect effect test produce optimism mark with English paragraph writing skills smaller if we compare with the score between optimism through value perception of siri’ culture; the value between social support with English paragraph writing skills also smaller if comparing with the value between social support and English paragraph writing skills through value perception of siri’culture; so does the value between academic self-efficacy with English paragraph writing skills shown smaller if we compare with academic self-efficacy score and English paragraph writing skills through perception value of siri’ culture. The result of this study enhance the role of perception value of siri’ culture as mediator variable. The exogen variable determination coeficcient calculation result shows the 0,986 score Meanwhile, the second exogenous variable, value perception of siri’ culture with the endogenous variable is mastery of students’ English writing paragraph skills, produce the 0,706 scores.
