      Abstract
      The background of this research is the existence a risk factor in financial service, whereas the risk factor stated here refers to potential loss such as bad credit and troubled financing. Murabahah is of the products of BMT Bina Ikhsanul Fikri (BIF) and BMT Beringharjo Yogyakarta which receives high interest from society. It receives such attention because its character is profitable, it is easy to implement, and it is preferable for its low risk factor. The objective of this research is to identify the strategy of BMT BIF and BMT Beringharjo Yogyakarta in preventing and handling their troubled financings, especially for their Murabahah financing. This research used qualitative approach which was initiated by observation and followed with interview with some informants and proceeded to documentation. The research resulted that the anticipation taken by BMT BIF and BMT Beringharjo Yogyakarta in preventing troubled financing is done by conducting thorough analysis of 5C (Character, Capacity, Capital, Condition, Collateral). The strategy to handle Murabahah troubled financing at BMT BIF and BMT Beringharjo Yogyakarta is in accordance to the Standard Operational Procedure (SOP); which was handled using memorandums (SP): SP, SP1, SP2, and SP3 (collateral seizure). However, those procedures are usually done in amicable manner and is through monthly monitoring
