PERSEPSI ORANG TUA TERHADAP PENGGUNAAN ANTIBIOTIK PADA BALITA DI WILAYAH PUSKESMAS I GAMPING
Abstract
Infectious diseases belong to the top ten diseases that attack humans.
Infectious disease caused by bacteria can be cured with antibiotic. Antibiotic is
categorized as hard drug that only can be obtained with doctor’s prescription.
Most of the society uses antibiotics to solve infection problems caused by virus
and there are still many people who buy antibiotics without a doctor’s
prescription. It can causes the bacteria become resistant toward antibiotics. Data
of antibiotic use in Yogyakarta that is not rational to treat diarrhea or other
infectious diseases are of 58%. If the antibiotics giving that is not appropriate to
children under five, it will cause bacteria resistant toward disease caused by
bacteria. Therefore, it needs to find out how the perception of parents toward the
use of antibiotics to child under five is so that there will be no mistakes in the
taking of antibiotic. The objective of this research is to find of the perception of
the parents toward the use of antibiotics for children under five.
The research was a qualitative in nature with phenomenological approach.
The number of the informants in the research was 17 people i.e. Mothers having
children under five. The data collecting technique was conducted with in-depth
interviews and focus group discussion technique. The data analysis in the
research was using software open code 4:02.
The research results showed that the perception of the parents toward the use
of antibiotic is categorized as good. The parents regarded that antibiotic was used
to cure diseases caused by bacteria. Antibiotic could only be obtained through
doctor’s prescription and taking should be appropriate with the prescription
given. However, there ware factors that influence the attitude of the parents in
giving antibiotic to their children, so that the taking became inappropriate. It
needed to do research related to attitude of taking antibiotic and the factors that
influence it.
