PERAN BIMBINGAN KONSELING DALAM PENYESUAIAN DIRI SISWA BARU DI SMK MUHAMMADIYAH 1 YOGYAKARTA TAHUN PELAJARAN 2017/2018
Abstract
This research’s background refers to the circumstance that 50% of new student in SMK (vocational highschool) Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta experience difficulty in adapting with the culture of the school and eradicating the problem of adaptation is a part of guidance and counseling as it is written on act No. 111 year 2014 about guidance and counseling for basic and middle education. This research is aimed at identifying kinds of issue related to adaptation, identifying the role and obstacle of counselling guidance in coping with new student adaptation issue at SMK 1 Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta academic year of 2017/2018. The research method used qualitative research which benefited intensive interaction using natural setting and subject. Sampling techniques used to collect data were interview, conversation, observation and documentation.
The research result indicates that: (1). Issue related to adaptation dealt by new students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta academic year 0f 2017/2018 covers: teenage adaption to their role and identity, education, social norm, as well as anxiety, conflict and frustration, (2). The role of counselor in providing solution toward the issue of adaption cover: orientation, information provision, individual counselling, group counselling, home visit, and data sets. (3). The supporting factors are the cooperation among teacher counselors, cooperation between teacher counselors and homeroom teacher of class X, cooperation between teacher counselor and parents/guardian. And the obstacle factor is parents/guardian.
