dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this thesis is to discover the perception of the students towards E-learning. This research focused on three main objectives; how the students perceive the activities done in E-learning, the benefits of E-learning and the challenges that the students faced in E-learning. This research was conducted at English Language Education Department (ELED) of a private University in Yogyakarta. The descriptive qualitative design was used as a research method of this study. The research data was collected through the interview. The participants who were involved in this study were six students of batch 2015 from 4 different classes that have taken all subjects related to E-learning. The result revealed that the students thought that E-learning are not bore, enjoyable, simple and flexible. The results of the research also showed that there are six activities done in E-learning. The activities that have been done in E-learning are learning how to operate free learning platform, learning how to make use of free online teaching tools, doing quiz and games, doing online discussion, giving and submitting assignment, making use of available learning tools, learning how to create an online class. This study also revealed that E-learning gave three general benefits to the students, such as cost effective, enriches the students’ knowledge of technology, and useful for the students’ references as their teaching method in the future. Additionally, this research also indicated that there are also six obstacles that the students faced in E-learning. The challenges regarding E-learning implementation are unclear instructions, delayed and unclear feedbacks, techno-illiteracy, cheating and plagiarism, low interaction, and the last is distraction.en_US
