PERBEDAAN TINGKAT KETERGANTUNGAN PENGGUNAAN ROKOK ELEKTRIK DAN ROKOK TEMBAKAU PADA USIA DEWASA AWAL
Abstract
Background: Province of Special Region of Yogyakarta ranks second with the highest number of smokers in Indonesia. The types of cigarettes used are tobacco and electric cigarettes. The amount of nicotine content of electric cigarette is lower than tobacco cigarettes around 0.025-0.77 mg / 15 puff (suction) while in tobacco cigarettes 1.54-2,60 mg / cigarette.
Objective: To know about the difference of degree of dependence on the use of electric cigarette and tobacco cigarette in early adult age.
Research Methods: This type of research uses descriptive comparative and cross sectional design. Sampling technique uses snowball sampling technique, the number of respondents of this study amounted to 82 respondents. The inclusion criteria for this study was someone who has early adulthood and has an active smoking habit. Data collection uses the University's dependency level questionnaire. Data were analyzed using independent sample test comparative test.
Results: The majority of respondents were dominated by men, in electric smokers amounted to 38 (92.7%) and tobacco 41 (100%). The average age of respondents is 21-22 years, the youngest is 20 years old and the oldest is 23-24 years old. The average length of smoking is 4-5 years, the lowest smoking period is 2-3 years and the highest is 6-7 years. The level of dependence on tobacco cigarettes most of the respondents with a high dependence rate that is 14 respondents, medium dependency 14 respondents and low dependence 13 respondents. While on electric cigarette most of respondent with low level of dependence is amounted to 26 respondents, medium dependency 13 respondents and low dependence 2 respondents. The value for the electrical cigarette dependence rate is 8.35 and the tobacco of 9.70, it can be concluded that there is a difference in the degree of dependence between electric cigarette and tobacco cigarette.
Conclusion: There are a difference in the degree of dependence on tobacco cigarette users and electric cigarettes. Tobacco dependence rate are higher than electric cigarette.
