PERBEDAAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN KESEHATAN MULUT ANTARA PENYULUHAN METODE CERAMAH DAN BERNYANYI
Abstract
Dental and oral health is very important for teeth development and could affect the quality of life. The effort of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative efforts is to improve public health. Promotive effort establish by dissemination method, such as lecture methode and singing methode. The purpose of this study was to discover and evaluate the differences of the oral health knowledge’s level between the lecture and singing methods for children aged 8-9 years at Muhammadiyah Elementary School Suronatan Yogyakarta.
This was cross-sectional study with quasi experimental pretest and posttest design. All subjects (n = 76) divided into 2 groups consist of 38 subjects for each. Group A was for singing method and group B for lecture method. The questionnaire used to gain level of knowledge measurement. The data analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney Test.
The result of Mann – Whitney for posttest between both groups showed p = 0,0805 (p>0,05), which means there was no significant difference of knowledge level between both groups. The resuls of Wilcoxon test for singing method showed p = 0,109 (p>0,05) which means there were no differences between before and after singing method, while before and after lecture method showed significant difference with p = 0,002 (p<0,05). The result of Mann – Whitney for difference value pretest dan posttest between both groups showed p = 0,05 (p< 0,05) which means there was significant difference for escalation of knowledge level (pretest to posttest). To conclude, in this study lecture method was better than singing method for escalation value of knowledge level.
