STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION ON TEACHERS’ INTERPERSONAL SKILLS AT ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
Teachers’ interpersonal skill is an important thing on students’ learning. Teachers should be able to develop a good interaction with their students. This research aims to identify students’ perception on teachers’ interpersonal skills at EED UMY. The research question is “What are students’ perceptions on teachers’ interpersonal skills at EED UMY”. To know the students’ perceptions on teachers’ interpersonal skills, the research used qualitative research methodology.
This research used interview to collect the data from the students. There were six participants, two male and four female, who participated in this research. To analyze the data, this research employed open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. This research wanted to know about students’ perception based on the following categories 1) perception on teachers’ communication skills, 2) perception on teachers’ relationship skills, 3) perception on teachers’ motivational role skills, and 4) perception on teachers’ teamwork skills.
