The objectives of this research are to: 1) study the substantial meaning of Amtsal Nur in Surah An-Nur verse 35 according to al-Maraghi and al-Ghazali, and 2) analyze the values of Islamic education containing in it. Its usefulness is to give information and broaden scientific insight as well as the foundation of Islamic education goal by instilling the values of Islamic education. This research employs library research method, that is using library materials as primary and secondary data. The method of data analysis in this research is content analysis. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive-qualitative, interpretation, and comparison method. The research result shows that: 1) the different interpretation between al-Maraghi and al-Ghazali is on the power of light receiver (direction) from Allah. Al-Maraghi states that the light is received by heart, while al-Ghazali states that the one which receives light from Allah is intellect; 2) education values which are contained in Amtsal Nur of Surah An-Nur verse 35 consists of: a) i’tiqadiyah (aqidah) education value, b) khuluqiyah (akhlaq) education value, c) ‘amaliyah education value. Al-Maraghi views it through human’s heart using the role of heart to instill and keep the values of Islamic education. Meanwhile, al-Ghazali views it through human’s intellect which has the role to instill the values of Islamic education.
