HUBUNGAN ANTARA KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DAN LINGKUNGAN SEKOLAH DENGAN PERILAKU DELINKUENSI PADA REMAJA KELAS VIIISMP MUHAMMADIYAH BANGUNTAPAN BANTUL
Abstract
This research aims at: (1) describing the level of8th graders’ emotional intelligence inMuhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantul; (2) finding out the school environment of Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantul; (3) finding out the level of delinquency behavior of 8th graders inMuhammadiyahJunior High School of Banguntapan Bantul; (4) proving the relationship between emotional intelligence and school environment with teenagers’ delinquency behavior in the 8th grade of Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantul both partially and simultaneously.
The type and the approach of the research was quantitative by using double regression analysis. The population of the research was all the class VIII students of Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantul with 138 students. The number of the sample was determined based on Slovin formula with mistake level of 5% resulted in 103 students. Meanwhile, the sample taking technique used simple random sampling technique. The data collecting technique used questionnaire and document.
The result of the research showed that: (1) the level of emotional intelligence of the 8th graders of Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantul is in category of fair; (2) the school environment of Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantul is in 8th graders of Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantulis in category of low; (4) partially, there is a negative and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and teenagers’ delinquency behavior of the 8th graders of Muhammadiyah Junior High School of Banguntapan Bantul. It could be shown by the value of xry = -0.494 and Sig = 0.000. Besides, there is a negative and significant relationship between school environment and delinquency behavior shown by the value of rxy = -0.494 with Sig = 0.000, and there is a positive and significant between emotional intelligence and school environment shown by xry value = 1.000 with Sig = 0.000. Meanwhile, simultaneously there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and school environment and delinquency behavior of the teenagers shown by Fregression = 32.579 with Sig = 0.00. then, effective contribution given by emotional intelligence and school environment is shown by R = 0.244 or 24.4% meaning that 75.6% is influenced by other factors.
