Translated literature, first language literature which is translated into a target language, is one type of literature which is not widely used by teachers and rarely discussed by researchers because it is not as popular as other types of literature. Therefore, I conducted an action research in a Private High School in Yogyakarta, to study this type of literature. To be specific, the participants are eleventh grade students of IPA 2 class. This research aims to explore how translated version of Indonesian literature help to solve writing problems of these students and investigate their responses about the integration of this type of literature in their writing class. Based on the data taken from the observations, students’ writings, and the interviews, translated literature is a valuable and suitable teaching material especially for EFL or ESL students. First, students feel the enjoyment of learning. Second, students say that they can understand the text better. Third, students are able to learn values from their own society. Fourth, the novel can give students illustration on how to write a narrative story such as, deciding main idea, developing character, and enhancing the usage of vocabulary. However, there are some problems which still can not be solved even after this research was conducted. First, inconsiderable decisions in integrating the literature to the lesson may decrease students motivation in reading or even learning. Second, students capability in implementing grammar rules especially using past tense is still not satisfying.en_US
